Sinai Chapels

Sinai Chapels

For four generations, Sinai Chapels provided compassionate, tradition-based funeral services to the Jewish community. Now their business was at a crossroads.

Increasing Awareness and Efficiency through Compassionate Education

Attitudes towards religion were changing, and the local customer base was dispersing. Sinai Chapels turned to us to develop a web presence that positioned their business for a new world.

Our Approach

We wanted to build a website that would help the client’s business thrive – but this was no ordinary business. Our redesign had to respect sensitive subject matter, educate visitors about Jewish funeral customs and accommodate users going through a difficult time. To accomplish these goals, we broke the project down across three areas.

Helping User Accomplish Tasks Efficiently

Using Wordpress as our content management system, we overhauled each of the processes customers used to interactive with Sinai Chapels online, making them easier for public use as well as internal management.

A New Funeral Services Schedule

Using an internal search function, visitors arrive at their service page where they can learn details of the service, leave condolences and make a donation in memory of.

Yahrzeit Calendar Request Form

Yahrzeit - the Jewish calendar date during which someone passed away- is often documented in a physical calendar, which Sinai Chapels provides free of charge. We built a responsive, online form that allowed users to order a calendar directly via the site.

Provide A Safe, Welcoming Online Environment

Visitors to the Sinai Chapels site were either the recently bereaved, or those planning ahead for themselves or a loved one. In either case we wanted to design an experience that underscored tranquility and comfort.

Emphasize Education and Guidance

Our third goal was to provide succinct, accessible information to educate the user on the various aspects of Jewish funeral rituals and processes. We worked with the client to develop:

A Guide to Jewish Funerals

That offered comprehensive information on Shiva, the week-long Jewish mourning period, as well as the various stages of mourning.

A Guide to Jewish Funerals
A Glossary of Jewish Funeral Terms

Vivamus saggitus lacus vel augue laoreet rutrum faucibus dolor auctor. Maecenas faucibus mollis interdum. Donec ullamcorper nulla non metus auctor frangilla.

Ask the Rabbi

Allows users to submit questions regarding Jewish faith, tradition, and burial customs to an in-house pastoral counselor
